Passing Scotch Corner feels like as good an opportunity as any to see where we're up to. This adds up to 39 miles more motorway before the ordinary A1 takes over for the rest of the trip to Edinburgh.

Possibly the most noticeable change here is that "The NORTH" has disappeared from signs. We are now, it seems, indisputably in the north.
