Three traffic signals - one on each side of the road, and a third hung from a mast arm overhead - which change from red to green and back again in sequence.
This is the A504 crossing our path. You can turn left here, towards Hendon, but not right. We've just passed through what looked like dense woodland, but it was just trees screening the surrounding houses from the road. Beyond this point the houses front directly on to the A1 as well.
