In the 1960s, the idea was that we'd pass underneath this roundabout, dip under a golf course in a short tunnel, and then pop out at Scratchwood, meeting the M1 to continue our journey into London. But the link road was never built, so the M1 will remain out of reach to our right for the next few miles.
