A black and white sign with a heraldic crest and the text "welcome to ENGLAND".
The border is marked by a stone, bearing a shield painted with the St George's Cross and the engraved word ENGLAND. On the left are three flagpoles, on which you'll see the St George's Cross, the Royal Standard and the Union Jack. On the opposite side, welcoming drivers to Scotland, are another three flagpoles, but all three fly the Saltire. Together these six flagpoles articulate all there is to know about the political union of England and Scotland.
