Hardwick Hall, and its extensive grounds, are right alongside the M1 between junctions 28 and 29, and are the reason why all the signal gantries and other Smart Motorway metalwork are painted brown here, not the usual grey. It's supposed to help blend it all into the landscape and avoid spoiling the views.
