Luton's airport, crammed into one corner of the town's boundaries, continues to expand at a surprising rate - it's effectively London's fourth airport. The A1081 is now essentially an expressway from the M1 right in to the airport itself, and it now has a railway connection linked to the airport by a new shuttle train called the DART. It's a lot of infrastructure for a small town.
