Motorway gantry sign

A gantry spanning the motorway with blue overhead signs indicating one lane exiting and four continuing ahead, and the following text.

Left lane destinations: A30 London; (W) ; Hounslow; Staines .

Right-hand four lanes destinations: (M3, M23, M20); Southampton, Gatwick [Airport symbol] Dartford M25 .

Junction number: 13.

This bit of the M25 opened in little fits and starts over the years. Through this junction, and over the Thames, the motorway opened in 1981, but that was largely work to widen the existing Staines Bypass whose line the motorway uses. South of the river, the motorway is older - from there to junction 12 opened in 1976 as a little spur from the M3.
