This bit of the M6 opened in 1963 and, unlike the sections to the north and south that have been upgraded, still has many original features. Just after this sign is a "banana bridge", an unlikely-looking early 60s type of footbridge made up of two banana-shaped pieces that are joined in the middle by a hinge.
