This is the junction where the road builders became house movers. In the course of constructing the exit sliproad a grade II listed building (Upshire Lodge Gatelodge - a thatched cottage dating from the early 1800s) was dismantled and re-erected as a perfect replica (the original crumbled away) at a cost of £70,000. The next section to J27 opened in January 1984 at a cost of £29.1m.
