The A4123 is the Wolverhampton-Birmingham New Road, built in the early 1920s and one of the UK’s very first major roads in the motor era. It will get you to Wolverhampton as advertised, but only very very slowly, since it is now completely built up. If you wish to reach Wolverhampton on the same day you should stick with the M5.
